Do I need to install anything to use Lumina Studio?
No. Lumina Studio runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download, install or update. Sign up and start creating.
Every answer, on the rack.
Every question we get about Lumina Studio, answered straight. Search it, or work through it by chapter.

Yes. The Free plan includes 15 AI images and 2 AI videos each month (video at 720p, 6 seconds), the canvas editor with its core tools, and PNG and JPG export. No credit card is required. You can also connect your own Gemini API key on Free to generate beyond the monthly allowance.
Create a free account, then pick a tool: the design canvas, AI image generation, Pro Photo, Video Studio or the PDF Suite. A short setup wizard opens the first time you enter the studio and you can skip it.
Yes, with limits. The studio has a phone layout with a slide-out menu, so you can sign in and open your work on a phone or tablet. The editors are built for desktop and laptop screens, and detailed editing is easier there.
No. Lumina needs a connection: sign-in, saving and AI generation all go through our servers.
Canvas edit history and the assets you upload to a Brand Kit are saved to your Lumina account, so they follow you to any device. Video Studio Pro projects autosave in the browser you are using, so open them again in that same browser.
Yes. Ctrl+K opens the Command Palette, where you can type to find a tool or jump to a studio. Undo is Ctrl+Z and redo is Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y in the Canvas, Video Studio, PDF Suite and Pro Photo. The guide lists the rest, studio by studio.
It depends on how you generate. With your own Gemini API key, images are generated with Google Gemini 3 Pro Image (Nano Banana Pro), which takes up to 14 reference images per request, so a full brand lock on a saved character is possible. On your plan's included credits, images are generated with FLUX.2 [klein] on Cloudflare Workers AI, which takes up to 4 reference images at up to 1920px. Video is produced with Google Veo, and campaign copy is written with Google Gemini.
Yes. Save a character (a person, mascot or product) to your brand library, turn on Brand Lock, and Lumina attaches your saved shots as references. Identity comes first: when a request reaches the engine's reference limit, your character is the last thing dropped. The limit depends on the engine: 14 references with your own Gemini key, 4 on included credits, so a full five-shot identity lock needs your own key.
The Virtual Photoshoot turns one product photo into a series of on-brand shots, with no studio and no reshoot. Pick a scene pack (Studio for clean e-commerce, Lifestyle for social and ads, or Seasonal for campaign moments, five scenes each) and Lumina renders every shot with your product's shape, colors, materials and label kept faithful to your reference. Shots arrive one at a time, each with its own on-brand score.
Yes. Paste a script, then upload a presenter photo or describe one, and Lumina generates a talking-presenter video. Longer videos render in segments, and each segment continues from the last frame of the one before it, so the presenter, wardrobe and lighting stay consistent from cut to cut. Captions are synced automatically, and one click stitches the segments into a single MP4.
The Brand Campaign Agent turns one brief into a campaign you can post. Describe what you are launching and Lumina returns a copy kit (concept, headline, body, call to action, and captions with hashtags for each channel) plus three hero concepts, each scored for brand fit. You pick a hero, and Lumina composes it with your headline, call to action and logo, then resizes it for Instagram post and story, Facebook, LinkedIn and X.
Brand-locked stills, Virtual Photoshoot shots and campaign concepts each carry a BrandGuardian score from 0 to 100. Lumina samples the finished image and scores the share of its dominant colors that sit in your Brand Kit palette, listing any that fall outside it. On the Canvas, Brand Guardian checks a design against your default brand kit (colors, fonts and spacing) and can fix each issue it flags.
Yes, with rights that depend on your plan. You own what you generate. Commercial use rights are limited on the Free plan, standard on Starter, and full on Pro and Team. Section 6.3 of our Terms sets out the conditions.
BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) means connecting your own Google Gemini API key. Generations made with your key are billed to you by Google at its API rates and do not count against your Lumina allowance, so Lumina puts no cap on them. Your key is kept in your browser and never reaches our servers. BYOK works on every plan, including Free. A key lifts only the Gemini generation cap: stock search and transcription stay metered by plan.
Be specific about what you want: describe the subject, art style (photorealistic, watercolor, 3D render), mood, lighting, composition, and color palette. For example, "a minimalist product photo of a ceramic mug on a marble countertop, soft morning light, shallow depth of field" produces much better results than "mug photo." Iterate on your prompts to refine the output.
Styles come from your prompt, not from a fixed menu. Photorealistic photography, illustration, 3D render, watercolor, flat design and product photography all work. Name the style, the medium and the lighting you want, and add reference images when the look has to match something specific.
Yes. Each image is generated from your prompt and references at the moment you ask. Nothing is pulled from a stock library or reused from another user. Running the same prompt again gives a new result, though close prompts can produce similar images.
On included credits, images render up to 1920px on the long edge. With your own Gemini key, images can render at 4K. Platform video is 720p and 6 seconds on Free and Starter, and 1080p and 8 seconds on Pro.
The AI Assistant gives ideas for designs, copy and campaigns, and writes headlines, taglines and marketing copy. Upload an image of a design and it returns a breakdown of the composition, color and overall quality. You can also talk with it out loud in Voice mode, or have it read your text aloud in one of three voices in Speech mode.
Yes. Give the Content Calendar a brief and it drafts weeks of dated posts with captions and hashtags, and can generate an image for any post in the format its platform uses. It plans and drafts only: Lumina does not post to social platforms for you. The Content Calendar is one of the AI workflows included with Pro.
The photo editor includes 16 blend modes, a full layer system, AI background removal, 18 brush presets across six categories, nine one-click filter presets, histograms, color curves, and non-destructive editing. It handles compositing, retouching and color grading one image at a time; there is no batch processing in the photo editor. Export is PNG, JPEG or WebP.
Yes. The PDF Suite lets you add text boxes, merge and split documents, add electronic signatures, redact sensitive information, run OCR on scanned documents, apply Bates numbering, compare document versions, and check accessibility. It runs in the browser alongside the rest of the studio.
Write or paste a script and Lumina turns it into a storyboard of shots. From there you arrange the timeline, choose from three transitions (a cross-dissolve and two fades), import your own audio, add text, and export to MP4 or WebM, whichever your browser can record. The whole workflow runs in the browser.
The Brand Kit holds your brand colors, fonts and logos, along with your saved characters and products. Lumina uses it to guide AI generations and to score results against your brand. A kit belongs to the account that created it and is not shared with other members yet. Pro includes up to 5 brands.
Yes. Search free Pexels photos from the Command Palette (Stock Photos), and find stock B-roll for your captions on the Cut page of Video Studio Pro. Every photo and clip is credited to its creator on Pexels. AI Stock separately generates stock-style images at four ratios: 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and 9:16. Stock search is metered by plan, and your own Gemini key does not lift that limit.
Yes. Video Studio Pro can transcribe a clip's audio and turn the transcript into captions. Transcription is metered by plan, and your own Gemini key does not lift that limit.
Yes. AI Templates has a gallery of six ready-made designs, and its Create tab generates a template from a description you write. Applying a template resizes the artboard to fit it.
Yes. Open the Command Palette and choose Import from Figma, which brings in frames using your Figma access token, or Import from Canva, which takes designs you exported from Canva as PNG, JPG or SVG. Sketch, Photoshop and Adobe XD files are not supported.
Yes. Design-to-Code Handoff writes code from the design on your Canvas as React with Tailwind, HTML with CSS, or Figma JSON, and lists the design tokens it extracted. Treat it as a starting point to review, copy or download. It is one of the AI workflows included with Pro.
Not in a usable form yet. The Plugin Store, opened from the Command Palette, is a preview: it lists eight first-party plugins, but plugins are not connected to the canvas, so installing one records your choice and does not change your designs.
Each plan has a monthly allowance of AI images and AI videos: 15 and 2 on Free and Starter, 150 and 10 on Pro, 500 and 40 on Team. A generation counts once the AI provider has processed the request, including one that comes back filtered or refused. The allowance resets each month. For more, upgrade your plan or connect your own Gemini API key.
Yes. You change plans in the billing portal, which you open from Settings, Billing. The portal shows what you will be charged before you confirm the change.
You have three options: connect your own Gemini API key for uncapped generation billed by Google, wait for your allowance to reset next month, or move to a higher plan. Your projects and editing tools stay fully available whatever your balance.
Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial, so nothing is charged until day 15 and you can cancel before then at no cost. After that, annual subscriptions carry a 14-day money-back guarantee, and monthly subscriptions are non-refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise. Customers in the EU have a 14-day right of withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU. To request a refund, email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase. The binding terms are in section 4.5 of our Terms.
Yes. You switch between monthly and yearly billing in the billing portal, opened from Settings, Billing. The portal shows the charge and the date it takes effect before you confirm.
Yes. Starter and Pro both start with a 14-day free trial. Your card is authorized at checkout but won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime during the trial from your account settings without being charged. The Free plan separately gives you 15 AI images and 2 AI videos per month with no credit card required. Team is arranged directly with us, so its terms are set when we talk.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Checkout accepts major credit and debit cards, and shows any other methods available for your region and device at the time you pay.
Yes. Cancel anytime from your account settings. There are no cancellation fees and no phone calls. You keep full access until the end of the billing period you have paid for.
Your projects are safe. Downgrading never deletes or archives your work: everything you made stays in your account. What changes is your monthly AI allowance. Once your paid period ends you are on the Free plan's 15 AI images and 2 AI videos per month, or uncapped Gemini generation with your own API key.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher) and at rest (AES-256), as our Privacy Policy sets out. Lumina runs on Cloudflare's global network, so requests are served from data centres that hold their own SOC 2 Type II certification. Every user-owned table is protected by row-level security. Each cookie consent decision is recorded in your own browser with its own id and timestamp (the last 50 are kept), and you can change the choice at any time.
No. We do not use your creative content to train AI models without your explicit consent. When you generate, your prompt and reference images are sent to the AI provider that fulfils the request: Google for Gemini and Veo, Cloudflare for FLUX. This applies to every plan, including Free.
We handle personal data under the GDPR terms set out in our Privacy Policy. You can download your data from Settings, Security. To delete your account, send a deletion request from the same screen: we verify it and delete the account and its data within 30 days. There is no instant self-serve delete yet.
Open Settings, Security and send a deletion request from the account's own email address. We verify the request and delete the account and its data within 30 days. There is no instant self-serve delete yet.
You can create a workspace for each team and invite members by email as a Viewer, Editor or Admin. Workspaces do not share designs or assets yet. Submitting a design for approval is not available in the studio yet, and Lumina does not record audit events yet. Single sign-on (SSO/SAML) is not available yet and is on our roadmap. Two people cannot edit the same canvas at the same moment, and brand kits are not shared between members yet.
It depends on your plan. Free exports PNG and JPG. Paid plans add WebP, SVG and PDF. Video exports as MP4 or WebM, whichever your browser can record. There is no GIF export.
Not yet. Lumina has no public API or SDK today, and no plan includes API keys; the studio's server endpoints serve the app itself and are not open to outside integrations. If you need programmatic access, email [email protected] and tell us what you would build. It shapes what we open up first.
Not yet. On the Team plan you can save agency branding and verify a custom domain you own with a DNS TXT record, but saved branding is not applied to the workspace and no custom-domain routing or SSL is provisioned. If agency branding matters to you, email [email protected].
Not yet. SAML and OIDC single sign-on (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace) is on our roadmap and is not available on any plan today. Every member currently signs in with an email and password or with a Google account. If SSO is a requirement for your team, email [email protected] so we can tell you when it ships.
Team is arranged directly with us and is not bought at checkout, so seats and terms are sized to your team. The plan definition starts at 500 AI images and 40 AI videos a month with 1 TB of storage. Email [email protected] and we will put together a quote.
